CONDOLENCE MESSAGE
Members of Institution of Public Health Engineers, India (IPHE) are extremely saddened and grief stricken at the sudden demise of Prof. Kumar Jyoti Nath, former President, IPHE (1995-2008 and 2010-2022) in Kolkata on 10th October, 2023 at about 1:00 O’clock. Under his able leadership, the Institution excelled in its activities and is now where it is today. He was not only a mentor and well-wisher of the Institution but was actively involved in the activities of the Institution.
A former Director of All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health, Prof. Nath was regarded as a foremost expert on Environmental Health, Sanitation and Community Water Supply. He had served in key positions as a member of the National Ganga River Basin and also as an Adviser to the World Bank, WHO and UNICEF. He was also the Chairman, Arsenic Task Force, Govt. of West Bengal. He was an Advisor of Sulabh International for a long period.
The Office Bearers and few members of the Council in a meeting held on 11th October, 2023 paid their respects to the departed soul and proposed that this Condolence message be sent to the family of Late Prof. Nath. At this hour of grief we pray to Almighty to give strength to his family members towithstand the grief and sorrow on the demise of Prof. Nath.

MEETING NOTICE
Prof. Kumar Jyoti Nath, Immediate Past President of the Institution and eminent Public Health and Environmental Engineer of international fame expired on Tuesday, the 10th October, 2023 in Kolkata.
A former Director of All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health, Prof. Nath was regarded as a foremost expert on Environmental Health, Sanitation and Community Water Supply. He had served in key positions as a member of the National Ganga River Basin and also as an Adviser to the World Bank, WHO and UNICEF. He was also the Chairman, Arsenic Task Force, Govt. of West Bengal. He was an Advisor of Sulabh International for a long period.
A condolence meeting to pay respect to the departed soul will be held on Friday, the 27
th October, 2023 at 04:00 PM in the Ground Floor Auditorium of IPHE office premises.
Dr. Dinesh Chand, President, IPHE will participate and preside over the meeting virtually.

His reach extended well beyond the confines of India, as he presided over expert panels for prominent international organizations such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, UNEP, UNDP, IFH (UK), (WQ) RGDWM, and more. Prof. Nath's insightful perspectives and deep wisdom were globally sought after, positioning him as a central influencer in the formulation of policies and projects that touched the lives of countless individuals.
In India, Prof. Nath was a trusted advisor, having served as a Member of the Planning Commission, GAP, and NGRBA, contributing to the nation's sustainable development and water resource management. He also chaired the Arsenic Task Force for the Government of West Bengal, displaying his unwavering commitment to tackling pressing environmental issues at the local level.
Prof. Nath's reach extended to numerous academic and scientific bodies, as evidenced by his roles as a Fellow of NASI, IPHA, IE(I), IWWA, and NESA, demonstrating his dedication to the advancement of knowledge and the cultivation of future leaders in the field.
His former role as the President of IPHE India demonstrated his unwavering commitment to advancing the principles and methods of public health and environmental engineering. Moreover, he earned respect as a valued member of SAB and SEA Regional Coordinator, TAG, WHO (WASH), IWA, Oslo, reaffirming his unflagging dedication to worldwide health and sanitation endeavors.
