The 1st 'Sisir Kumar Neogi Memorial Lecture' organized by the Institution in the IPHE Hall at Salt Lake, Kolkata, a special event to pay special respect to Er. Sisir Kumar Neogi, founder Secretary General of the institute was held on Wednesday, 29th January 2025, and also to mark the first anniversary of his passing away. Despite being a man of such stature, Er. Neogi, former Chief Engineer, Municipal Engineering Directorate, Govt. of West Bengal was accustomed to living a very simple life, has been engaged in some form of charitable work with all honesty throughout his life.
The event started with the formal publication of a literary magazine, "Pratham Shom" in bengali by Er. Bashista Kumar Sengupta , former Director General, KMDA and past Secretary General, IPHE; and Shri Parimal Ghosh, a renowned literally personality; in memory of Er. Neogi; which was Er. Neogi’s passion outside of his professional world. The printed magazine includes some of his own work and few other members of the literary group that he was a part of. About fifty participants were present in-person as well as virtually.
After the introductory remarks by Prof. (Dr.) Arunabha Majumder, Vice President, IPHE; Er. Chandan Sengupta, formerly with Tripura PWD (PHE), UNICEF and West Bengal Sanitation Task Force, talked about ‘On-site Sanitation – Issues and Challenges.’ Following the talk, there was a lively question and answer session.
IPHE President, Dr. Dinesh Chand, joined the event remotely and spoke for a few minutes.
The program was spearheaded by Er. Tarun Kumar Dutta, with coordination efforts made by Er. Kripan Ayudh Roy, both Secretaries of the Institution.
